Anya Mundell competed in the 2011-12 season with the Midstate Show Circuit on her horse Smokin’ Ember. Mundell finished the season as Champion in Equitation over Fences 13 and Under and Reserve Champion in Crossrails and Beginner Crossrails. She has started the new season on her horse Sox.

On March 3, soldiers of the 122nd Engineer Company out of Batesburg left for deployment in Afghanistan. Three MCHS Junior Beta Club volunteers — Kelsi Metts, Abby Stiver and Hannah Caudill — partnered with the 124th Engineer Company Saluda National Guard Unit Family Readiness Group to help pack over 150 bags of donated items to hand out to the National Guard soldiers leaving for their deployment.

WHITMIRE — Rainy weather canceled the first Whitmire Jaycees egg hunt but nice weather came out to play Friday for the Jaycees annual egg hunt. The Jaycees held an Easter egg hunt on Friday at the Whitmire park beside the community center where there was plenty of space for the three age groups to divide and conquer.
