The Newberry College Athletic Club has a golf tournament April 18 at the Country Club of Newberry with a noon tee-off. Stokes-Trainor owner Joe Trainor is offering this Buick Encore as a prize for anyone who gets a hole-in-one on a certain hole. Trainor is shown with Mike Hold, director of the athletic club.

Fire department’s annual golf tourney is April 27
NEWBERRY — The Newberry Fire Department’s fifth annual golf tournament for the MUSC Children’s Hospital Burned Children’s Fund will be held April 27. “All of the proceeds go to the MUSC Burn Children’s Fund,” said Ben Bowers, an engineer for the Newberry Fire Department and chairman of the event. College hosts fun weekend
Newberry College hosted a variety of activities for families, students, alumni and the community this weekend. It started with President Maurice Scherrens’ inauguration on Friday and on Saturday there was an alumni game, spring game and other games such as these inflatables and some basketball. A DJ provided music and the night ended with a movie on the Quad at the college.
