NEWBERRY — The Whitten Center Parents’ Club hosted the fourth annual Glenn Bledsoe Memorial Golf Tournament on April 10 at the Country Club of Newberry.
The charity tournament is held at its namesake’s home course annually to raise money for the residents of Whitten Center in Clinton, where the former Bledsoe served as Volunteer Services director until his death in 2009. Bledsoe’s son, Benjamin, was in the field of 90 golfers who played the captain’s choice event.
Several other members of his family were on hand, including his widow, Annette and his brothers Eddie and Ike. Many of the players were friends and co-workers of Bledsoe.
A large portion of the winner’s prize was donated back to the Parents’ Club. The tournament made over $10,000 which will be used to benefit people with intellectual disabilities. The tournament organizers wish to thank all of the sponsors, players, and volunteers who made the day fun and successful.
