NEWBERRY — The Newberry County Council is continuing to work to move offices to the new Piedmont Technical College campus on Wilson Road.
The $972,000 project includes moving voter registration, veterans affairs and Clemson Extension to the complex and reworking the parking lot.
Clemson Extension has moved into the new offices and voter registration will move after the November election.
A bid of $173,472 was accepted last week for the work on the veteran’s affairs office.
The parking lot work will include putting in a 24 inch drainage pipe. Also there will be rewiring done to the lights in the parking lot.
With just under $20,000 left in the budget for the county, there are other projects being considered.
One is to finish the store fronts across the center of the strip mall.
A second is to dress up the former Winn-Dixie end of the building that is not just an unpainted block wall.
Also the county is considering looking at the green space where the Winn-Dixie was about using it for more than a grassed area that needs to be mowed.
Currently to get to the Clemson Extension office, motorists must enter from the rear of the building while the parking lot work is being done.
