Athletes run down Main Street on Thursday afternoon for the Special Olympics as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics providing awareness and fund raising for the Special Olympics. City of Newberry officers and troopers with the S.C. Highway Patrol escorted the runners through Newberry. The runners started in Greenville and a ceremony will be held in Columbia on Saturday. The movement occurs because law enforcement want to raise awareness for the Special Olympians.
