The South Carolina Stars Navy team on a great showing at the AAU Division 2 National Championship at the ESPN Wild World of Sports in Florida.
The Stars finished second place losing 44-51 in the National Championship game.
It was a well-played game that did not end in the Stars favor.
The Stars battled fierce competition to get to the title game.
They will take a week off to wrap up its season with a tournament in New Orleans, La.
On Friday the team opened the playoffs at the national championship with a 59-4 victory over CASE.
The Stars took this game from the start. The defense was not gonna give up any easy basket.
ShaLeighya Sulton lead all scorers with 11 points. Christian Thompson and Zhane Green had nine points each.
Rounding out the top scorers for the game was DeJah Williford-Kelley with eight points.
The S.C. Stars Navy team were determined to finish first in pool play and to send a message against a Tampa Bay team who were boasting before the game.
The Stars opened with a 18-9 first quarter lead and Green opened the game with the first eight points.
The Stars extended their lead to 30-12 at halftime.
The defense was unbelievable as they caused turnover after turnover.
The Stars only gave up 11 points in the second half.
The final score was 58-23.
Green and Sulton led all scorers with 14 points.
The S.C. Stars Navy team pull off a good win early Thursday morning against a tough Laker team despite shooting 13 for 34 from the free throw line.
The Stars held just a two point lead at halftime.
The Stars were lead by Sulton with 10 points. Williford-Kelley and Ke’Asia rounded out the scoring with 9 and 8 points respectfully.
The Stars closed the game out with a 58-49 win.
The South Carolina Stars Navy team got off to a great start of their pool play at the National AAU tournament.
They captured their first win this morning defeating the Ohio Lady Attack Blue 56-20.
