Burglary suspects wanted in Newberry County

WHITMIRE/BUSH RIVER — The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in locating two men thought to be involved in several burglaries over the last several weeks.

Investigators say that two black males in a white vehicle has been spotted acting suspiciously in areas that later reported burglaries. While it is unclear at this point whether the vehicle is a car or SUV, investigators describe the men as black males between 20 and 30 years old. One of the suspects has dark complexion and is of a heavy build with short hair. No further description is available on the second suspect.

The burglaries have occurred in the area of Old Whitmire Highway and the Bush River community. There have been five burglaries in this area thus far.

“We are making every effort to locate these suspects,” said Sheriff Lee Foster. “We are asking the community to join forces with us to help locate these suspects and stop those who would violate the homes of our citizens.”

Anyone who might see this vehicle or have information on who these suspects might be to contact the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office at 803-321-2222.

Foster said that increased patrols and other law enforcement activities would be ongoing until the suspects are apprehended.

If suspects are seen, please contact law enforcement.
