NEWBERRY — The Newberry High Blue Brigade Band hosted their annual Lorraine Paris band competition on Saturday night.

The competition brought in high school bands from all over the state and even outside the state to Newberry to showcase as well as compete.

Steve Wilson, Newberry High’s Band Parent Association president, said that while the competition went well, the expected revenue was not quite what they expected.

“We were happy that all went well and we had the opportunity to represent the school, community and the legacy of Lorraine Paris in such a great way,” said Wilson.

Paris was a legendary band director for the high school and while the competition was eventually named in her honor.
