NEWBERRY — The Newberry College Delta Mu chapter of Kappa Delta will host its annual Shamrock Week to raise money for its national philanthropy, Prevent Child Abuse America, and its local philanthropy, The Boys Farm of Newberry.
National Kappa Delta has teamed up with Prevent Child Abuse America since 1981. Since then, each chapter has donated 20 percent of its Shamrock Week proceeds to the organization. Eighty percent goes directly to each chapter’s local philanthropy. The Delta Mu chapter has paired with The Boys Farm of Newberry for several years and look forward to its contribution in 2013.
Kappa Delta will host its first “KAYsoDEEya Dinner” a.k.a. quesadilla dinner on Tuesday at the Portico on Holland Hall from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets $7 each and are on sale until March 16. Tickets bought at the door will be $10. The quesadilla will be prepared by The Flying Pie restaurant.
The chapter will also host a “Sonic Percentage Night” from 5 p;.m. to 9 p.m. March 21 at the Sonic location on Wilson Road. A certain percentage of the total sales from customer purchases made that night will go to the philanthropy.
