NEWBERRY — Laura Mae Kinard adores flowers and her yard in the Helena community shows it off.
“I love flowers and I just enjoy working with them and resetting them (every year) for more,” said Kinard. “All of them are my favorite. I just love flowers.”
Perhaps her love of flowers can stem back to her mother, who was also a gardener when she was alive.
“My mother loved flowers too,” said Kinard, who also tells how her children understand her love for vibrant blooms.
In fact for Mother’s Day, she told her children that she just wanted flowers.
“I got three sets of (hanging) flowers. They know what I like,” she said smiling.
Just like she adores all her children, she also adores all her flowers. And don’t ask her to pick a favorite because, as she says, she loves them all.
Surrounding her flowers are some statues that she states she’s had forever. They just add a certain flair to her yard, she said.
Kinard tends to her yard every day like clockwork. “I water them at 6 in the morning and 6 in the evening,” she said.
Kinard likes to get her flowers from Wicker’s Nursery, a place she’s always frequented for flowers.
