Colton McLemore helps Bob Wilusz play the accordian in downtown Newberry on Saturday for Oktoberfest. Wilusz, dressed in traditional German attire, has been coming to Newberry’s Oktoberfest for seven years and was entertaining the crowd with some German music.
Wendy Steiner, left, and Kristin Bocklige cook up some traditional German potatoes during Oktoberfest on Saturday. Steiner is the owner of Gasthaus Zur Elli in Prosperity and was a part of the culinary stage showing how she cooks up authentic German food and serving it the passersby. Bocklige is a prep chef for the restaurant. Along with Gasthaus Zur Elli, Enoree River Vineyards and Huller’s also came to the culinary stage to share.
Dakota Perry plays with some of the kittens at the Newberry County Humane Society’s area during Oktoberfest. The humane society had plenty of puppies and kittens that needed to be adopted at the festival.
Dr. Lynn Derrick and his wife, Susan Derrick, dressed up in some traditional Germany attire for Oktoberfest on Saturday.
Dwight Watson enjoys a German beer, Paulaner Salvatore, during Oktoberfest Saturday. Watson had made his way to the beer garden by the Opera House and while he enjoyed the salvatore, he said the Paulaner Oktoberfest was much better.

Dean Hawkins enjoys a German-inspired sausage dog with his grandson, Jamarion Hawkins on the old courtyard steps in downtown Newberry.
