NEWBERRY — Deer Camp the musical, comes to the Newberry Opera House Sunday at 3 p.m. This lighthearted comedy is sure to have the audience rolling in the isles.

The story is set around four mighty hunters who head off to their hunting shack in search of the elusive 14-point big buck. In all their years of “hunting” they have never fired a shot. After all, between the beer and the bull, who has time to hunt. Lucky for these guys, what happens at deer camp stays at deer camp. But this year things have to change. Under threat from their wives to get a deer or no more hunting trips, they find themselves in panic mode on the last day of camp and no deer in sight.

Starring Tony Papenfuss and John Voldstad, best known as “My Brother Darryl and my other Brother Darryl,” on the Newhart television show. Deer Camp will charm the audience with great songs about wives, grunt horns, coupon clippers, relationships, beer, bingo players and even male dancers, the show is one the audience will smile about for months. The show features hilarious songs like: Mighty Hunters, She’s Playing Bingo, Coupon Clipping Ladies, and The Grunt Horn Song.

Laugh and sing along as the “Hunters” hatch a plan to save their “mantuary” (male sanctuary). With lovable characters everyone can relate to and laugh at, Deer Camp is sure to delight audience members.
