More than 40 ladies will contest in the Prosperity Hoppin’ beauty pageant Saturday.
The pageant features 44 young ladies from newborn through the late teens and they are divided into two groups for Saturday.
The first group of newborns through 6 year olds starts at 10 a.m. while the seven and up group starts at 1 p.m.
The emcee will be Betsy Brooks and entertainment will be provided by a past contestant, Adriane Morris who is a dancer.
This is a slightly larger group that last year’s 39 contestants. The pageant is the kick off to the Hoppin’ festival which is the weekend of Aug. 17-18. The winners will smile and dazzle at the festival Friday night.
There will be an array of crowns for category winners and overall winners.
The younger categories are Baby Miss, Toddler Miss, Precious Miss, Wee Miss, Petite Miss and Overall winner for that group.
The older categories are Little Miss, Young Miss, Pre-Teen and Overall winner for that group.
There are also miscellaneous categories the girls may win including first and second runner-up as well as for most photogenic and smile among others.
The event will be held in the Prosperity Civic Center.
