NEWBERRY — A wreck Wednesday afternoon on Main Street sent three people to the emergency room and closed the road for about 40 minutes due to the wreck, according to Newberry Police Sgt. Chuck Rogers.

The wreck occurred around 2:10 p.m. when a driver was turning from Kinard Street onto Main Street failed to yield the right of way. A car traveling west on Main Street hit the left rear door of the car, spinning it off the road and onto the sidewalk.

Three people in the car turning off Kinard Street were carried to Newberry County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, said Rogers.

Later in the day, a truck pulling a trailer pulled out in front of a car at the same intersection. Rogers said driver of the truck avoided hitting the car but the car collided with the trailer. No injuries were reported.
