WACO, TEXAS — For the first time since 2008, the Newberry College Wolves are ranked in the top 25 of the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches Poll, achieving a rank of No. 24 as announced by the organization Monday.

The Wolves are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference play following a 47-22 win over Carson-Newman on Saturday. Newberry is the only remaining undefeated team in Super Region Two entering this Saturday’s game at Mars Hill.

This is Newberry’s 23rd appearance in the poll, which was first released beginning in the 2000 season. The Scarlet and Gray were last featured in the AFCA poll on Oct. 7, 2008, also the week of the Mars Hill game that season. The Wolves are 15-7 all-time when ranked in the AFCA poll.

Newberry is one of only two Super Region Two teams in the AFCA Top 25, behind No. 19 West Alabama (3-1). The Wolves are the first SAC team to reach the Top 25 in the AFCA poll this season.

The Wolves are currently on a five-game winning streak, which is tied for the sixth-longest active streak in Division II.
