Wolves finish in 11th at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE — The Newberry College women’s golf team finished in 11th place at the 41st Annual Lady Paladin Invitational, completing the final round Sunday. The Wolves had a final score of 962 (318-317-327) in the three round tournament comprised mostly of Division I teams.

Lisa Brandl (Nuremberg, Germany) and Natalia Perez (Bogota, Colombia) tied for 40th individually with scores of 23-over par 239. Brandl had Newberry’s best score of the day on Sunday with a 6-over par 78 with two birdies, while Perez had a team-best four birdies in the third round on the way to a 7-over par 79.

Barbara Castro (Coruna, Spain) tied for 48th individually with a 26-over par 242, Eline Askeland (Oslo, Norway) was tied for 55th at 30-over par 346 and Julia Daneshfar (Trophy Club, Texas) tied for 63rd at 34-over par 350. Competing as an individual, Korey Coleman (Stanford, Ky.) was 73rd at 45-over par 261.

Chattanooga’s Marion Duvernay was the individual medalist at 3-over par 219 for the event, while the Mocs won the team title with a 32-over par 896 for the tournament.

The event concludes Newberry’s fall tournament schedule. The spring schedule will be released later this semester.
