The Newberry Electric Cooperative’s Women Involved in Rural Electrification made much needed donations to Boys Farm and the Newberry County Free Medical Clinic on Thursday.
The items include hand soap, paper products, copy paper, over the counter medications, cleaning supplies and snacks for Boys Farm.
Leaders at both agencies say the donation was a big help to keep them going.
Free Medical Clinic Treasurer Willie Morris says her group only has enough operating capital for the next five months. The group is applying for grants and asking for donations from the community.
To make a donation to the Free Medical Clinic located at 2568 Kinard St., Newberry, call 276-6665 or mail it to PO Box 783, Newberry, SC 29108.
The donation was part of the WIRE groups efforts to provide help to those in the community.
The organization’s mission is to help with community needs.
This year they have donated items and help with the Freedom And Hope Foundation, sent items to the military serving overseas, collected items for needy people at Christmas and given bears to emergency agencies.
The group meets quarterly at the Newberry Electric Cooperative on Wilson Road.
The member in the organization is open to anyone in the Newberry Electric Cooperative service area.
They also have sponsored a bake sale at the Newberry Electric Cooperative annual meeting and have blankets available at the office. All of the proceeds will go to help others and groups in the service area.
