Verizon Wireless had a system problem as of Friday afternoon making it impossible to call 911 for Verizon customers.
Mobile to mobile communication was still be possible but sending text messages was iffy.
They are working to get the 911 service was restored around 4 p.m. Technicians worked on the entire network, not just that in Newberry County.
