JENKINSVILLE — SCE&G will conduct a test of its V.C. Summer Nuclear Station siren warning system Wednesday and Thursday starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. each day.

During the test, SCE&G will sound several sirens located within a 10-mile radius of V.C. Summer Nuclear Station in Fairfield County near Jenkinsville. The sirens will be tested for approximately one and a half minutes and might be tested more than once during the Wednesday and Thursday testing periods.

Area residents are reminded that the minute and a half sounding of sirens during this time period is only a test. In the unlikely event of an actual emergency at the plant, the sirens would sound for three minutes with no prior notice and would alert area residents to tune to an Emergency Alert System radio or television station for further instructions.
