The county will be hosting rounds of basketball action this weekend.
The 2009 Mid-Carolina High School Pre-Christmas Basketball Tournament will tip off Friday with four girls and four boys teams playing.
Ashley Ridge High School of Summerville, Tasmania from Australia, Blackville Hilda High School from Blackville, and Mid-Carolina High School teams will be playing in the tournament.
Boys games will start at 7 p.m. on Friday with the Australian team playing Blackville-Hilda, Ashley Ridge will take on Mid-Carolina at 8:30 p.m.
Girls play will start at 4 p.m. on Friday with the Australian team playing Blackville-Hilda and Ashley Ridge taking on Mid-Carolina at 5:30 p.m.
Play will continue on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. with the consolation girls’ game.
The Newberry Academy Holiday Shootout Tournament will start on Friday at Newberry Academy and will include both boys and girls games. Play in the Academy tournament will continue on Saturday and Monday.
The Newberry High School boys basketball team will be hosting a two-day tournament beginning Saturday and concluding on Monday.
Batesburg-Leesville and Great Falls will tip-off the tournament at 6 p.m. on Saturday, while the Bulldogs will host Clinton around 7:30 p.m. The losers bracket will be on Monday at 6 p.m., while the championship game will follow at 7:30 p.m.
