NEWBERRY — Sonic Drive-In of Newberry has been announced as the title sponsor for the 2013 Super Region I Duals, which will be hosted by Newberry College on Friday and Saturday.

Sonic’s Mac Bell has been a long-time supporter of Newberry College athletics and Sonic’s sponsorship will help make the event one of the best hosted in the history of Newberry wrestling. The event will be spread out over six mats in six sessions, with four mats in Eleazer Arena and two mats in historic MacLean Gymnasium.

Tickets for the Super Region One Duals presented by Sonic Drive-In of Newberry have been priced at $15 for single day tickets and $20 for a weekend pass. Tickets will be available in Eleazer Arena on both days.

The event will mark the first intercollegiate competition in MacLean since the opening of Eleazer in 1981. The first two sessions will take place Friday, with the other four sessions on Saturday. The event will be followed by a South Atlantic Conference basketball doubleheader vs. Tusculum with the women’s game at 6 p.m. and the men’s contest at 8 p.m.

Joining Newberry in the event are Super Region I teams Anderson University, East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University, Kutztown (Pa.) University, Mercyhurst (Pa.) College, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Ohio Valley (W. Va.) University, the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, Seton Hill (Pa.) University, Shippensburg (Pa.) University and West Liberty (W. Va.) University. Also in the event are Belmont Abbey (N.C.) College, Limestone College and Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) University from Super Region II.
