Soccer player named SAC Freshman of the Year

This marks the third time a Newberry College men’s soccer player has been named Freshman of the Year. Brandon Cockrell earned the honor in 2001, as well as Rick Ladimir in 1999.
Ochoa led Newberry with six goals on the year. He started every one of Newberry’s 19 matches, had three game-tying goals and a game-winner against Erskine on August 29.
The All-Conference teams are selected by the league’s head coaches.
