The upcoming school year may begin Aug. 20 but prior to that are some important save the dates for parents.

Registration for all Newberry County public elementary and middle school students is Tuesday and Wednesday while high school registration is Aug. Tuesday through Thursday. All registration takes place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Then there are open houses in which parents may meet the teachers of their children which the schools encourage.

As for Newberry Academy, school starts Aug. 22 and they have a noon dismissal. Their registration has already passed.

Elementary schools:

Boundary Street Aug. 16 from 5-7 p.m.

Little Mountain Aug. 16 from 6-7 p.m.

Newberry Aug. 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Gallman Aug. 15 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Pomaria-Garmany Aug. 16 from 6:30-8 p.m.

Prosperity-Rikard Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m. (Back to school session)

Reuben Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m. (With ice cream social)

Whitmire Community Aug. 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. (All grades)

Middle schools:

Newberry has not set a date yet.

Mid-Carolina Aug. 23 from 6-7 p.m.

High schools:

Mid-Carolina Freshman orientation Aug. 15 9-11 a.m.

Open house Aug. 28 6-7 p.m.

Newberry Academy:
