The Newberry County School Board has four opportunities for people to file but the deadline is quickly approaching.

Those who wish to file for school board must do so by Saturday at noon at the Newberry County Voter Registration office on Wilson Road near Bi-Lo.

The office will be open from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday taking board filings until the very last minute.

Potential candidates must have their statement candidacy, petition, copy of their statement of economic interest and filling fee of $100.

If the economic interest form is not filed with the S.C. Ethics Commission and not turned in with petitions, the filing will not be accepted.

Candidates may visit www.scvotes.org for forms.

The four school board members whose term is up are Ike Bledsoe, chairman Jody Hamm, Lucy Anne Meetze and Gregg Taylor.

So far, three people have filed. They are Hamm, Meetze and Brent Connelly. Meetze and Connelly have filed for district three. Hamm is in district four.

The school board election will be held in the Nov. 6 general election.
