The community is invited to say good-bye to a local businessman and his wife.
Steven and Renee Foulis are forced to leave Newberry after building a destination restaurant here.
Over the past 15 years Steven Foulis, has run Steven W’s but Newberry Opera House Director Deborah Smith remembers those early days when Steven W’s and the opera house were both working to be successful.
“When we opened there was just Steven W’s and Cabana,” said Smith, adding Delamaters, Grille on Main, Flying Pie and Blue Moon all followed.
Over the years Renee Foulis has worked up way up the chain with U.S. Foods and has been offered a corporate promotion with the company.
The promotion is requiring a move to Chicago, Ill., so the couple must move.
“They are having live changes and situational changes,” said Smith.
As the couple prepares for the move they are looking to sell both their home and business.
But the plan is for the Main Street restaurant not to close but for a new owner to be found.
In honor of what the Foulis’ have brought to Newberry though the restaurant, they are being honored with a drop-in from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Newberry Firehouse Conference Center.
The public is invited to attend.
