The Rotary Club of Newberry greeted its new president Friday.
Outgoing president Melvin Evans passed on the title to incoming president Lynn Cary who will be the president for a year.
Evans will still be actively participating in Rotary and he has also become the assistant governor for the district that includes Newberry which means he’ll get to see more fellow Rotarians in other counties.
Cary said there are definitely some ambitious goals ahead for Rotarians and hopes to continue to follow in the footsteps of the past presidents.
She notes that the Rotary Foundation and membership are two big goals for the upcoming year.
She also welcomed board members who are almost the same as last year’s board.
This year’s board members are Bob Brown, Phil Fuller, Deedee Westwood, Renee Stubbs, Glenda O’Brien, Debbie St. Mark and Dale Mamele.
Mamele is the president-elect.
Another important position that changed hands was the sergeant at arms in which that person helps with the set up and help behind the scenes.
That person helps get everything ready before the meetings and special events. That title went from George Burke to Keith Avery.
