The Newberry Opera House’s reputation as an entertainment destination has grown tremendously over the past 14 seasons.

This means that the Opera House’s upcoming 15th season has recently acquired a lot of attention not only from adoring fans but also from online ticket scam artists, too.

“As the Opera House continues to bring in bigger and bigger stars, we receive more and more calls from patrons asking us about websites where they have seen our tickets on sale at exorbitant prices for seats that don’t exist,” commented NOH Box Office Manager Heather Hawkins.

With the 2012-13 season going on sale, the Newberry Opera House Box Office would like to reiterate that the Newberry Opera House is the only source for opera house tickets.

Patrons may pick up tickets in person, mail us at the box office at 1201 McKibben St., or phone at 276-6264 or purchase tickets on line at www.newberryoperahouse.com

During the season, typical scalpers may try to sell tickets they have purchased online for a profit.

However, more and more sites are popping up selling tickets that are not valid and may be up to $300 more than the actual ticket cost.

Scam artists search out tour schedules online and then create fake tickets and ticket information.

“We have had numerous calls regarding fake tickets online for Gordon Lightfoot, Jerry Butler, and the Oak Ridge Boys just this week. We have such a great 2012-13 season coming, it is bound to attract some attention,” stated Hawkins.

Patrons are encouraged to only purchase Newberry Opera House tickets online at www.newberryoperahouse.com or from the NOH Box Office directly at 276-6264.
