NEWBERRY — The Newberry College athletic department will receive a boost in the spirit department, as director of athletics Matt Finley has announced the addition of a dance team in the 2013-14 academic year.
While not an NCAA sanctioned sport, the addition of the dance squad will offer more competitive opportunities for women on the Newberry campus.
“This new dance team is a great opportunity to expand our spirit presence at games and will also open up more chances for Newberry College to compete across the region and the nation,” Finley said. “Our dance team will also be available to perform at functions in the community and be a great ambassador to show how great Newberry College is.”
A search is under way for a head coach, with information on how to join the team to come shortly.
