The Newberry High School boys’ track team finishes up the year strong
Newberry High’s Eric Gallman finished first in the Upper State match at Broome .
He also placed third in the state in shotput with a distance of 48-feet-and-five-inches.
Jimmy Shippy finished sixth overall at Upper State and third overall for state in the 100-meter race.
Markell Elkins finished second in the 400-meter in the Upper State and qualified for State.
Only the 4 x 100 team qualified for Upper State.
This is coach Burton Able’s first year coaching boys track and said it was definitely a learning experience but he has a good group of runners coming back next year and is looking forward to recruiting for next year.
