Whitmire Community School fourth grader, Barrett Martin, was recognized along with 21 other students around the Newberry County school district at the school board meeting on Dec. 10. Barrett was awarded a framed certificate for having a perfect Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS) score in the area of English/Language arts on the 2011-12 PASS. Barrett is the older daughter of Chris and Sabrina Martin, both teachers at WCS. Barrett is pictured here with her grandfather and school board member Ike Bledsoe.
