NEWBERRY — An arrest was quickly made Wednesday afternoon in a robbery and kidnapping.

Timothy Cromer, 45, of Newberry, who had recently been released from jail, entered a car at the Spinx gas station on College Street, according to Newberry Police Captain Kevin Atkins.

Cromer allegedly told the driver he had a gun and to drive him a few blocks away to the old Food Lion on Kendall Road.

The suspect then took money from the driver, according to Atkins.

Police and Newberry County Sheriff’s Deputies converged on the area around Kendall Road and arrested Cromer.

Cromer has been charged with armed robbery and kidnapping and is being held at the Newberry County Detention Center.

Atkins says that Cromer did not have a gun during the incident.
