PROSPERITY — Mid-Carolina cheerleaders are knocking down first and second places in competitions this season.

On Saturday the team competed in the Debbie Rogers Classic in Columbia and came in second place. Liberty High got the first place award in the competition that featured 60 teams.

The Rebels will go to the Upper State Qualifying competition Wednesday at Dorman High and to the state competition on Nov. 7 at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville.

“We have the talent and routine to win state this year,” said coach Sherry Bedenbaugh. “We have 10 seniors, nine juniors, two sophomores, two freshmen, and one seventh grader.”

Competition began on Oct. 1 when the team came in second at the Wolverine Cheer Classic.

On Oct. 6 the Rebels garnered first place at the Lexington Wildcat Cheer Classic.

Then on Oct. 17 they came in first again at the Viking Cheer Challenge.

In the same week on Oct. 20 they got another first place win at the Forest Acres Cup.

The following Saturday on Oct. 27 the Rebels cheer team was first at the Lake Murray Invitational.
