The Newberry Academy Junior Civitans are off to a terrific start to the new year.

They have already completed a number of projects since the beginning of the school year. These include serving breakfast to the teachers on the first day of in-service as well as delivering pencils to the first grade class on their first day as a welcome gift to the big school.

The annual “Catch the Excitement” pool party was also a huge success, giving prospective club members an opportunity to learn about Junior Civitans. The club is also planning its ceremony of initiation and installation of new club members for Sept. 20 at the school.

The newly appointed club officers for the 2012-13 school year are Sean Blanton, president; Jake Buzhardt and Alex Cole, vice-presidents; Emily Senn, secretary; Carman Franklin, treasurer; Amanda Crayne, Rachel Buzhardt, and Ansley Fuller, PRCs; Emma Lindsay, chaplain; Justin Suber, sergeant at arms; Ashley Fuller and Rachel Franklin, photographers.

Some club members were also elected or appointed to positions on the South Carolina District Board. They were Sean Blanton, deputy governor; Jake Buzhardt, lieutenant governor; and Justin Suber, sergeant at arms.
