LITTLE MOUNTAIN — Jana Jayroe is the new mayor of Little Mountain after she was the only person to file for the position during the original filing period. The write-in deadline was noon Friday.

Jayroe will fill the position left open by former mayor Buddy Johnson, who decided not to run for another term. The position has been temporarily filled since Jan. 1 by Mayor Pro Tem Melvin Bowers.

Jayroe served on town council many years ago and was also a former mayor pro tem. She served as interim mayor for a less than a month after District 40 Rep. Walt McLeod was first elected to the S.C. House.

Jayroe and her husband run an accounting business in Little Mountain.

The town will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at town hall due to a rescheduled meeting. The town normally meets the second Tuesday of the month.
