NEWBERRY — As the weather gets colder and more heating is needed, many families need help paying their utility bills. One organization that tries to help others is Interfaith Community Services of Newberry County, an organization of lay people and clergy with the purpose of serving the needs of the community.

Clients are screened and bills are paid to the providers. The only way this volunteer organization can help is through the contributions of churches, organizations, businesses and individuals in the community. Funds are running very low, just as they are needed most.

In the past quarter, the following have responded to the needs in Newberry County by giving to the ICS Emergency Relief Fund: Macedonia Lutheran Church, Fundraiser by Wade and Frances Pitts, Carolyn E. Shealy, Bethany Lutheran Church, Colony Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose, Sandra and Michael Goodman, Peggy Copulsky, Newberry Moose Lodge #2211, Martha and George Burk, Glenn Street Baptist Church, St. Philip’s Lutheran Church Adult B Sunday School class, St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Newberry Downtown Ministerial Association, Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, The Barnes-Wall Foundation, Wightman U.M.C. and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
