NEWBERRY — On Oct. 30, Jaymi Wilbanks and her fourth grade students enjoyed a morning of classroom time focused on various forestry topics. This educational environmental program, specifically designed for fourth graders, taught the students the importance of forests and forest products in their everyday lives.
The students were also made aware that sustainable management of our forests improves our quality of everyday life as we use many products that come directly from a tree.
They learned that our forests are renewable; therefore, by properly managing them, we can enjoy the benefits of our forests now as well as in the future.
The class gained a large amount of knowledge about the many different aspects of our forests, as well as what opportunities and jobs are available that deal with trees and forest management.
Their favorite activity was the magic show. They certainly enjoyed their entire visit with the forestry educators.
