Two black males carrying a pistol demanded money from the manager at the Little Cricket on Kendall Road last night. The incident happened around 1 a.m., and the two thiefs fled the store with three porn magazines and less than $100, said Newberry Police Captain Chuck Counts.

One of the robbers, the men’s ages are estimated at between 18 and 25 years old, jumped the counter with the gun demanding money. The manager emptied the convenience store’s cash drawer into a bag the men brought in.

Hearing the robbery dispatch afterwards, one officer patrolling in Grant Homes spotted a male who matched the clothing description of one of the suspects, but the man fled on foot.

Bloodhounds brought by the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office were also at the scene.

Police have leads, but are still working on the investigation.

“We’re still in the investigation phase. No warrants have been issued as of yet,” said Counts.

The crime of armed robbery with the possession of a deadly weapon carries a sentence of 30 years, said Counts.

Police ask anyone with more information on the robbery to call 321-1010.
