Cutest pet contest winner named

NEWBERRY — After weeks of submissions and voting the winner of The Newberry Observer Cutest Pets Contest has been named.

During the contest The Observer had 47 submissions and 4,550 votes in the contest.

The entry titled Petunia in Pretty Pink submitted by college student Megan Lindler took the top honors with 1,877 votes.

Coming in second was Prince submitted by Brandy Elkins with 700 votes.

Third place goes to Jenny Stone with her submission Bogey helping dad with yard work which received 589 votes.

For her win, Lindler will get a prize of $250 thanks to sponsor Chapin Pet Lodge.

And for those who enjoyed this online contest, the next one will start in a couple of weeks.

The next contest will be the Virtual Costume Party. So get your best costume dusted off, snap a photo and get ready to enter the contest.

Submissions will be taken from Oct. 21 until Nov. 3 and the voting will be conducted from Nov 4-10.

The winners will be announced the week of Nov. 11.

More details about the Virtual Costume Party will be announced as Oct. 21 approaches.
