NEWBERRY — Elected county officials will be sworn in on Jan. 3.

Newberry County Coroner Craig Newton, Sheriff Lee Foster, and Clerk of Court Jackie Bowers will all be sworn in at 4 p.m. on Jan. 3 in the main courtroom at the Newberry County Courthouse.

Also deputy coroners Lewis Lee, John Pollard and Melody Martin will take the oath of office.

The oaths will be given by Judge John Kittredge and Judge Eugene Griffith.

Due to the logistics and paperwork involved Sheriff’s Office deputies will be sworn in at a later date, according to Foster.

By law, Auditor Donna Lominack and Treasurer Karen Lindler will not start their new terms until July 1 and will be sworn in then. Their terms coincide with the county’s budget which runs July 1 to June 30.
