NEWBERRY —Two carjacking suspects involved in a Greenville County carjacking were taken into custody on Sunday about 7 a.m.

The suspects were located in Newberry County near the intersection of Mt. Bethel Garmany Road and Shortcut Road close to Interstate 26 and Highway 34’s interchange.

Newberry County Sheriff deputies, S.C. Highway Patrol troopers and SLED agents responded to the call and searched Saturday night for the two suspects. They previously caught one suspect earlier in the Fox Run community area.

A Fox Run resident spotted the suspects and called 911.

A highway patrol trooper had spotted a vehicle on Interstate 26 that appeared to be disabled and then noticed three people walking from the vehicle.

Shortly after, a Newberry County deputy spotted them on Mt. Bethel Garmany Road, where the all night search began.
