Kerri Alewine is excited to be joining the staff of Newberry High School as the new choral director and has a true desire to see the Newberry High School choral program blossom.

She comes to NHS from Ridgeland Elementary School in Ridgeland, where she taught the past couple years.

She also has prior experience teaching at Northside Middle School in Greenwood, and Castle Heights Middle School in Rock Hill.

Alewine is a Lander University cum laude graduate where she received her Bachelor of Science in music with kindergarten through 12th certification in May of 2009.

In addition to her studies at Lander, Alewine also volunteered with the Greenwood High School Chorus under the direction of Gina Jolly in Greenwood.

Alewine has a background steeped in great choral experiences and looks forward to bringing her knowledge and experience to Newberry High School to share with its students.

Her hope for the NHS Choral program is that it will offer students an experience that will foster a love and appreciation of music and become a reputable and well-recognized program in the state of South Carolina.
