Hello everyone, so good to see you again. After a no news respite, we have some things to talk about. Of course the dangerously hot weather again is one of them. Yep, I am already looking forward to fall weather.

Speaking of the fall, the High School Football Jamboree will be held in Whitmire this year. Legends Stadium will be the home for this early pre-season’s night of high school football. So our WCS Royal Regiment Marching band members and sports teams will start practices in the morning hours to avoid this scorching heat.

The Community gardens are being maintained, but with the lack of rain in The Whitty, it a job just to keep plants and vegetables healthy and hydrated. Economic Development members manage the community flower garden on Church Street, while EJ Ruiz and his 4-H Friends and Piedmont Technical classmates mange the community vegetable garden on McDonald Street.

Happy birthday wishes to Derek Long, Joan Wilburn, Mayor Billy Hollingsworth, Mary Ellen Truesdale Page, Lisa Mayo Leigh, Lynn Maness, Edith Nelson, Cliff Vicars, Angie R.Thompson, Franklin Rinaca, Larry Fant and Phil Hutson.

On a sad note, we send sympathies to the families of Leonard Wilbanks and Ellen Duckett.

Alright then readers, hope we’re over the no news summer respite. I think it was too hot for news, right? Let’s meet here next week, same time, same place. In the meantime, feel free to send your news bits and photos to news2cassie@yahoo.com.
