It’s been an eventful season, and our calendar does not show signs of changing. We like it that way because it means that programs and events are taking place to help people make initial and stronger connections.

The most recent event was held at Uptown Pour. Located at 1110 Main St. in downtown Newberry, they cut the red ribbon and held their grand opening on Thursday. Many came out to support this new business and hear about their plans.

I urge you to contact them about their catering and event space offerings. In addition, look for various activities such as Paint and Sip parties in which you can take part.

We held the interest meeting for Leadership Newberry County and were overwhelmed with the positive response. Attendees of this program will get an in-depth look at how all of the aspects of our county operate and how they all work together.

We thank Andrew for providing a great article on this program in last week’s newspaper. Should you have questions or be interested in this program, or in providing sponsorships, please contact us.

One of our longest running events is coming up on Sept. 27. The 25th annual Chamber Golf Tournament will be held at the Country Club of Newberry, with a shotgun start at noon. The hole-in-one car will be sponsored by Stokes-Trainor, Sonic is providing lunch for players and volunteers, and dinner is included in the cost as well.

Even if you do not play golf, there are certainly ways you can be involved. Your business could advertise as a hole or tent sponsor, you could provide a raffle prize, or you could help volunteer as much or as little of your time as you can that day to help with the festivities.

You can’t go wrong, for any amount of participation gets you involved in supporting the mission of our Chamber: To promote a positive business environment and to enhance the quality of life in Newberry County by supporting the state and county economic development efforts while meeting the needs of our communities and members.

We look forward to continuing to offer events and programs that can help you become a bigger part in your community and help your business succeed. We are always interested in hearing your ideas for programs from which you will benefit.
