At your Chamber, our mission is to promote a positive business environment and to enhance the quality of life in Newberry County by fostering economic growth while meeting the needs of our communities and members.

July recap

Newberry County Memorial Hospital sponsored and hosted the month’s Business After Hours. Attendees heard from CFO Bob Hetrick, NCMH Foundation executive director Brenda Williams, and general surgeons Dr. William Cantey and Dr. James Johnson. As usual, there was great food, beverages, and door prizes.

We welcomed the following new members during July: OfficeZilla Office Supplies Arthur L. Jayroe CPA The Palms Meat and Seafood Market LLC and Main & Nance Special Events Venue.

Upcoming August events

We are one of many parts of a county coalition that targets underage usage of alcohol and other substance abuse. That coalition is holding a community forum on Aug. 4 at Whitmire Community Center from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with Charles Weathers of the Weathers Group as the facilitator. The forum is a continuation of previous “courageous conversations” among Newberry County residents who are interested in a better community. Contact us for more information, as this effort is one of the most exciting movements taking place.

We look forward to the reopening of The Palms Grill & Bar. They will look different and have some changes to their already scrumptious menu, and we cannot wait to take a peek. We will have a chance to see the space on Aug. 5 when they host our Annual Mayoral Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. This event is informative, as we will hear from the mayors from throughout Newberry County and of the progress in each municipality. Space is limited, so contact us to reserve your spot. There will be a $10 charge for breakfast.

On Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m., Main & Nance, Newberry’s newest special events venue, will hold a ribbon cutting at their location, 1006 Main St. in Newberry. Join us as we celebrate this grand opening with the Mark and Elizabeth Christmus.

On Aug. 18, Springfield Place/JF Hawkins will sponsor the month’s Business After Hours at Springfield Place, 2000 Springfield Circle in Newberry. From 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., feel free to drop by and meet and greet other members and prospective members of your Chamber.
