Mr. and Mrs. Harry Vardon Cox of Donalds, South Carolina have the honor of announcing the marriage of their daughter Tara Vardon Cox to Carl Benjamin Setzler III of Newberry. The ceremony was held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at five o’clock in the evening at Greenville Presbyterian Church in Donalds. The Reverends Jonathan Bowling and Doug Cotton officiated. A reception followed at the Livery Stable in Abbeville.
The bride is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George William Busbee of Abbeville and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Coit Cox of Lowell, North Carolina. Tara received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Erskine College and an MBA from Winthrop University. She is employed by Stone and Associates, Inc. in Greenville. Tara serves on the Erskine College Alumni Board of Directors.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Benjamin Setzler Jr. of Newberry. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Arthur Jackson of Varnville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Benjamin Setzler Sr. of Newberry. Ben graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Animal and Veterinary Science and is employed by Setzler Farms Inc. in Newberry. He serves as chairman of the Newberry Soil and Water Conservation District.
The bride was escorted and presented in marriage by her father. Attending as maid of honor was Amanda Beth Banks, friend of the bride. Also attending as bridesmaids were the groom’s sister, Lora Carlin Setzler, as well as Sarah Traylor McArver, Merrick Kimmons Owen, Andrea Kenzig Perry, Kelley Marie Smith, Abby Leonard Wooten, and Ashley Kate Worster. Attending as flower girl was Matilyn Ann Cox, niece of the bride.
The father of the groom served as best man. Serving as groomsmen were brother of the bride, Daniel Brandon Cox, as well as David Wayne Bailey, Joshua Clark Baird, Clayton Dean Cotney, Joshua Curtis Eachues, David Brenton Leslie, Graham Alexander McArver, Jacob Ansel Owen, Matthew Robert Swendrzynski, and Daniel Jeffery Tate. Attending as ring bearer was Reed Michael Cox, nephew of the bride.
Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Vardon Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brian Cox served as greeters. The scripture reader was Peyton Coit Cox and Kimberly Lynn Kanapeckas served as the guest book attendant. Music for the ceremony was provided by Mr. Huger P. Caughman Jr., pianist, and Mr. Thomas J. Ellis, soloist.
The bride wore an ivory, Adela gown by Pronovias featuring a sweetheart neckline and an old-world lace overlay and trumpet style silhouette with a chapel train. The gown was accented by an ivory, fingertip veil and the bride carried a bouquet of ivory roses, peach peonies and poppies, with accents of cotton bolls, willow branches, and ivy.
The bridesmaids wore tea-length, strapless, ivory lace dresses over palomino matte satin and carried bouquets of ivory hydrangeas, coral and peach roses, peonies, and poppies with cotton bolls and peach stock. The groom and groomsmen wore bespoke khaki suits accented by orange and white seersucker ties with cotton boll boutonnieres.
After a honeymoon to the Greek Isles, the couple resides in Newberry, South Carolina.
