NEWBERRY — The Clinton-Laurens-Newberry Tennis Association held its third annual adult Mac Harrison Memorial Round Robin Doubles Tennis Tournament on May 31 on the Newberry College tennis courts. Sixteen people competed in the event.

In the women’s division, Harriett Counts from Prosperity came in first (6-4, 6-0, 6-1). This was the second year in a row that Counts has won the tournament.

In the men’s division, Bill Craine from Laurens came in first place ( 6-3, 6-1, 6-2) and Rhett Frazier (Newberry) was the runner-up (7-6 (4), 6-1, 6-2).

All three winners received prizes.

Matt Davis also won a prize for being the first participant to sign up for the tournament.

All proceeds from the tournament went toward the two upcoming CLNTA Summer Youth Camps for Newberry and Laurens. That particular event alone generated $560 in donations.

Mark Gardiner, Newberry College tennis coach, hosted the venue for the event.

The CLNTA’s next tournament will be Aug. 30 at Laurens City Park. This will be a mixed doubles round robin tournament.
