NEWBERRY — The Wolves’ regular season schedule for the 2014-15 season will feature a number of tough tests as the scarlet and gray push for an NCAA Tournament berth.

Newberry went 15-12 overall and 11-11 in the South Atlantic Conference last season, tying for sixth in the conference standings. Five of this year’s opponents reached last season’s NCAA Division II Tournament, with one advancing all the way to the Elite Eight.

The Wolves have a home-and-home series scheduled with each of the other 11 SAC member institutions. The home opener is on Saturday, November 22, against Brevard — the first of 13 contests scheduled for Eleazer Arena.

Sean Page is the head women’s basketball coach.

Newberry starts the season at Coker’s new DeLoach Center for three games. Newberry will take on Belmont Abbey on Nov. 14, followed by Limestone on Nov. 15, to open the season in the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge. Belmont Abbey made it to the second round of the 2014 NCAA Division II Tournament, while Limestone was the seventh seed in the Southeast Region and shocked the tournament by advancing all the way to the Elite Eight.

After three conference games, Newberry will travel to Evansville, Ind., to play against two Great Lakes Valley Conference foes in the USI Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30. The Wolves will take on Bellarmine on Nov. 29 and Southern Indiana on Nov. 30. Both of those schools made it to the very tough GLVC Tournament last year.

The other two non-conference games will both take place at home. Francis Marion, in its first season under head coach Jay Sparks, will come to Newberry on Dec. 13. NCAA Tournament South Region first round qualifiers Benedict will wrap up the 2014 calendar year at Newberry on Dec. 30.
