PROSPERITY — Mid-Carolina Middle School held their 2014 Athletic Banquet on May 15.


MCMS awarded several seventh grade football team players for the 2013 season. The best offensive lineman was awarded to Rhett Shealy, while Jalen Edwards was awarded the best defensive lineman title.


The best offensive back was given to Manual Wadsworth, while the best defensive back was awarded to seventh graders Reagan Woods and Ryan Bouknight.


The most valuable player for the team was awarded to Trea Sims, while Jackie Stroud was given the Rebel Award. Reed Andrew Studer had the highest academic average for the seventh grade football team with an average of 99.25.


The 2013 eighth grade football team named Jacob Ribble the best offensive lineman, while Myreck Wise and Miles Dewalt were named best defensive linemen.


The best offensive back was given to Jalen Bates Caldwell, while the best defensive back was given to Mason Hawkins. Cade Ruff was named Most Valuable Player for the 2013 season, and the Rebel Award was given to Jacob Harmon.


Jackson Scott Lominick had the highest academic average for the eighth grade football team, with an average of 97.75.


For cheerleading, best jumps went to Janiya Edwards, while Kathren Hamby was named best base. The best flyer went to Bailey Underwood, while Alisa Rogers was named best all around. Katie Connelly was named most spirited and Lylah Brooks was given the Rebel Award.


Sarah Katherine Connelly and Ashlyn Taylor Whitley were both had the highest academic averages at 98.75.


MCMS Lady Rebels volleyball awarded the best server title to Ivey Horne, and the best passer to Emma Fellers. Anna Wicker was named best attitude. Jessica Mills was named most improved and Madison Hyman was named MVP.


Alexis Hawkinson had the highest average on the team at 98.5.


Nia Hall was named best offensive player for the 2013-14 girls basketball team. Cassie Ruff was named best defensive player. Mary Helen Alford was named the most improved player, while Chazity Counts was named MVP.


Katie Coker had an average of 98.75, making it the highest for the volleyball team.


Cade Ruff was named the best offensive and defensive player for the basketball team. Ruff was also named the MVP of the team for the 2013-14 season. Jeb Fulmer and Rod Byrd were named most improved players for the team.


The highest academic average for the team was 99, earned by Kaleb Boland.


The following were recognized for their service to the MCMS Athletic Department for the 2013-14 school year:

•Erik Barber — Clock/Scoreboard Operator, basketball 2013
