PROSPERITY — Four Mid-Carolina Rebels will carry their skills up the road and work on their wolf howls in the fall as cheerleaders Jessica Folk, Beth Fulmer, Brittany Howe and Hannah Floyd committed recently to Newberry College.
MCHS captain Jessica Folk has cheered since age 6. She wants to major in early childhood education. When not cheering she likes hanging with her friends and chatting on Twitter.
“The leadership I gained at MCHS will help in college next year,” Folk said.
Teammate Beth Fulmer follows Folk to Newberry and plans to major in nursing. She has cheered six years, including five on varsity.
“The teamwork we had and family we had at MCHS will be what cheering is like in college, too. I am excited to get started,” Fulmer said. “It’s a great program and I love it.”
Brittany Howe has cheered for five years and loves the bond she gets from the MCHS squad and how members treat one another like sisters.
“Cheering is so worth it because you become part of a bond that is like no other,” Howe said.
Hannah Floyd cheered one year on junior varsity and two on varsity. She plans to major in international business and then get her master’s in business administration.
“I really liked cheering and competing at MCHS but now that career is coming to a close and I am really excited about becoming a wolf,” Floyd said.
