NEBWERRY — Newberry High School Lady Bulldog Soccer is not 4-1 after two wins this week.

Newberry came away with a huge victory over Fairfield Central with a score of 11-0 on Monday, March 24 in Winnsboro.

Thursday night the Lady Bulldogs hosted Ninety Six at Mike Ware Field, defeating the Wildcats 2-0.

Itzel Espinoza opened up the scoring early with a shot from in front of the net. Later in the first half, Jackie Garcia got around Ninety Six’s goal keep that was playing at the top of the box and drilled a kick into the net.

The remainder of the game was a strong defensive stand by the Dogs. Newberry’s Goalkeepers, Alia Hunter and McKenzie Holmes, held the Wildcats scoreless through the 80 minutes.

Newberry is now 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in region play.

Next up the Bulldogs will travel to region foe Batesburg-Leesville Tuesday and then to 3-A Strom Thurmond on Thursday.
